NANZACs - Nans ANZACs

Equipment

  • 2 Oven Trays Large

Ingredients
 

  • 125 grams Butter Chopped for easy melting
  • 2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda Baking Soda, Sodium Bicarb
  • 2 tablespoons Water Boiling
  • 90 grams rolled oats 1 Cup
  • 150 grams Plain Flour 1 Cup
  • 220 grams brown sugar 1 Cup Firmly Packed
  • 60 grams Desiccated Coconut 3/4 Cup

Instructions
 

Set up

  • Preheat oven to 160°C (Slow Oven)
  • Grease two large oven trays or line with baking paper.

ANZACs

  • Combine Rolled Oats, sifted flour, sugar & coconut.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat stir in butter and syrup until melted.
  • Mix Bicarbonate of Soda with Boiling water, then add to melted butter & Syrup.
  • Stir into dry ingredients
  • Spoon heaped teaspoons of mixture onto oven trays.
    Allow ~approx 5cm between to allow for spreading
  • Bake for 20 minutes in slow oven until golden.
    Loosen on try while still warm then Cool biscuits on trays.

Notes

If you prefer a medium oven @180c, cooking time is about 12 mins
